Kick-Ass

Q: What’s the movie about?

A: A high school nobody (Aaron Johnson) decides to become a superhero, by buying a skin-tight outfit and making pathetic efforts to fight crime. But soon, he gets mixed up in some trouble that goes all the way to the top of the mob.

Q: Who’s in the movie?

A: Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mark Strong, Clark Duke, Evan Peters, Michael Rispoli, Omari Hardwick, Xander Berkeley

Q: Is this movie worth the price of admission?

A: PhotobucketGo! It's a fun, fast-paced ride, filled with geek power and girl power. But be warned, it's not rated R by accident. The violence is in your face, and at times really hard to stomach.

Q: Will this movie make me laugh?

A: The humor is both dark and broad, which is a rare combination, almost never seen in an action comedy.

Q: Will this movie make me cry?

A: Rarely has death been treated so nonchalantly.

Q: Will this movie be up for any awards?

A: I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be nominated for Best Fight at the MTV Awards. And Best Batman costume at a local Halloween party.

Q: How is the Acting?

A: You heard it here first, folks, Aaron Johnson and Logan Lerman are the same person. And you thought it was hard to tell Naomi Watts and Maria Bello apart! Oh, and lookout Elle Fanning, there's a new totally adorable, miniature actress in town: Chloe Grace Moretz is kick-ass.

Q: How is the Directing?

A: Super-duper-excellent. Great action, and some of the best transitions I've ever seen.

Q: How is the story/script?

A: The story is mostly predictable and there's a lot of unexplained suspension of disbelief (especially when it comes to questions of reality, like "Why isn't anyone going to jail for this stuff?" and "How come child services hasn't taken Hit-Girl away from Big Daddy?"), so in the hands of the wrong director, this script could've gone down a very ugly road.

Q: Where can I see the trailer?

This movie was a big disappointment. It this film was a good as you say it would have made a lot more than $19.8 Million this weekend.

Defendor was WAY better than this film and it only had a ten of the budget (I assume).

Daredevil was structural better than this film. DAREDEVIL.

At least I got some Miles with my ticket purchase.

This was a small movie (Lionsgate and Focus), with basically no stars, so making almost $20 million (without being 3D) is nothing to be ashamed of. And it was # 1 at the Box Office for the weekend. I agree that the structure is predictable, but the dialogue and the directing feel fresh and original, as well as the concept of being a teenage superhero without any powers or money. If anything, I teetered on giving it a lower rating only because I think a lot of people will be turned off by the gratuitous violence and swearing.

I haven't seen Daredevil or Defendor, so I can't comment on how they compared. But I do remember Daredevil getting a lot of bad reviews at the time, which was why I didn't see it.

It was barely #1 at the box office this weekend. HTTYD almost beat it after 4 weeks in theater. A $200K margin separated the two. The dialogue had its moments but I do not know about the directing.

People will be turned on by the gratuitous violence and swearing.

If you watch Daredevil, watch the Director's Cut.

THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!!! Anyone who didn't like it or was disappointed just doesn't get it or is out of their mind. It has it's flaws but overall it's fun, exciting, violent, vulgar and just freaking awesome! At a certain point Hit Girl takes the movie over and runs away with it. If you're interested in the movie - see it. If you're not sure - see it. Worth every penny - ignore the fuddyduds who don't recognize great entertainment when it kicks them in the face.
